Sir Bob Geldof to switch on Christmas Lights
The Mayor of Margate, Cllr Brian Sullivan is delighted to
announce that Sir Bob Geldof will be in Margate on Saturday 29th
November, to turn on the Christmas Lights.
The Mayor said "The office has been in contact with Sir Bob's
team and Sir Bob was very concerned at letting us down, and through
the efforts of both the Mayor's Office and Sir Bob's team, the
timings have been slightly changed so that he can turn on the
lights and get his flight to Doha on Saturday night". He
added, "We are very pleased that Sir Bob has changed his plans to
be with us on Saturday".
A Craft Fayre will be in the Old Town with KMFM promoting
local bands on their Roadshow. The lights will now be
switched on at 4.45pm, Saturday 29 November. Also arranged by
the Charter Trustees is a firework display scheduled for
5.30pm.

Unveiling of the Bronze Shell Lady on the Harbour Arm
Margate Renewal Partnership is delighted to announce that the
Bronze Shell Lady, christened Mrs Booth, has arrived in
Margate. The creation of artist Ann Carrington, she has
been sited at the end of the Harbour Arm in a prime position to
survey Margate Old Town, right across Margate Main Sands and out to
sea. There is an official unveiling of the Shell Lady on
Saturday evening following the fireworks display arranged by the
Charter Trustees in conjunction with Sir Bob Geldof switching on
the Christmas Lights. The original Shell Ladies will
also attend the event.
Turner Contemporary & MRP feature on Politics Show
